Upcoming Events - North Western Region

Below are the upcoming events of the United Music Teachers North Western Region.

Auditions
North Western May Concert and UMT Awards Audition

Sunday 27 May 2018 2:30pm

  
This concert has two purposes: 

1. An opportunity for the more advanced student to perform works non-competitively, with a minimum standard of Grade 4 and above.

2. An opportunity for those who would like to Audition for the UMT Awards Day Final that will be held in June. Finalists for the Awards Day Final will be drawn from all regions of the UMT. 

An informal panel of teachers will decide upon and present Best Of and Commendation Certificates in each section, along with other awards may be given for best performance in various areas, such as Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th Century, Australian and Popular, at the panel’s discretion. 

Section 1: (correlates to the UMT Award - 14 years and under - singers aged 21 and under)

Performance: 1 or 2 pieces, minimum of Grade 4 AMEB standard. 
Timing: between 3-6 minutes
Memory: optional but encouraged
Those NOT wishing to enter the UMT Award can still perform in this section, presenting 1 or 2 pieces.
  


  
Section 2: (correlates to the Roger Woodward Award - age 15 to 18 years inclusive, singers - no age restriction)

Performance: TWO Contrasting pieces to be presented, of an advanced standard.
Timing: no longer than 12 minutes
Memory: Pianists and Singers to perform from memory - optional for instrumentalists
Up to three entrants only will be chosen to proceed to the Finals Day to be held in June.
Those NOT wishing to enter the Roger Woodward Award may perform one or two pieces, maximum 6 minutes, memory encouraged.

Section 3: correlates to the President’s Award, and is open to 19-21year olds, (probably at Tertiary level standard if auditioning).

If you have a possible candidate for this level, please contact the convenor for further details. The audition requirements are the same as Section 2 but at a much higher standard. 
For those students who are in this age category, but who would just like to perform and not be part of the audition, then the performance of one or two pieces may be presented, maximum of 8 minutes, memory encouraged. 


  

Entries for this concert are due by Tuesday, 22 May.

Cost:
Children 14 years and under (including performers): $5.00
All other performers and adults: $10.00
Families: $20

Spring Concert Day

Sunday 23 Sept 2018

A non-competitive concert, inclusive of all grades. Members may enter their students, and this is not exclusively piano performance. Other instruments and ensembles/duets etc are very welcome. Depending on the timing of each performance, one - two items per student can be presented.

Child’s Name and Age
Name of Piece(s) and composer name
Approximate timing of each piece
Include any special requests in this email as the concert will be in two parts, beginning at 1:30 pm and approximately 3:00 pm. Afternoon tea will be served at the conclusion of the first session.

Door Entry: $5.00 including performers, or $15.00 per family
Fees are payable on the day.

End of Year Recital
