A Message from the North Shore Branch
Dear Members,

Happy New Year!  All of this year’s events are listed in the current newsletter although some details are yet to be finalised.

At our Morning Tea (6th March) our guest speaker will be Dr Diana Blom, associate Professor at the University of Western Sydney, and we look forward to her talk on the stages of learning a new piano work from the perspective of both composer and performer. Please stay for the North Shore AGM immediately following the Morning Tea.

Sadly we are no longer able to use the East Killara Uniting Church as a venue, as it has closed down.  We are most grateful to Pamela Hinde for making it possible for us to use the Killara Music Room for some of our events. We have also come to an arrangement with South Turramurra Uniting Church.

Our two non-competitive concerts are open to all students.  They are always happy occasions. Written assessments will be given to all performers unless teachers request otherwise.  These concerts are the Autumn Festival and the Spring Festival).

Please think about which of your students would enjoy playing in a competitive concert.  The auditions for the Roger Woodward and UMT Awards are great for those who need further concert practice.  Please take note that for the first time the President’s Award will be combined with the Finals of these two Awards.

We cannot exist without the support of parents, students and teachers, so a big thankyou to all who have helped during 2016.  Please come to the Planning Meeting in November.
